I just wanted to share with PEEF that the help they provided my AP Music Theory classes had tremendous results on our success this year. The need software provided allowed me to give my students the basics that were not present before. My students scored 90% passing on the AP Music Theory College Board exam and 50% at the maximum of 5. As a result of this pilot funding, the district purchased a subscription for my ongoing program and others in the district; now, MANY more students will gain the benefit that PEEF provided my students last year.

The Pearce English Department is continually thankful for the generosity and support of the Pearce Excellence in Education Fund. Over the years, PEEF has allocated funds to extend access to technology so our students can have a more engaging learning experience in the classroom by purchasing other laptops and tablets. These funds also allow teachers at all grade levels to hold one-on-one writing conferences with students at different points throughout the year. While this is not a tangible item, the time it gives teachers one-on-one with students would not be possible otherwise. Teaching pedagogy tells us that providing students individual time and feedback will profoundly impact their learning. We can’t begin to express our gratitude for having the time to put these writing conferences in place.
Additionally, PEEF provides funds to allow teachers to attend professional development conferences that directly impact what they can bring to the students in the classroom. We have been able to send teachers to professional developments on Holocaust literature, the literature of the Harlem Renaissance, ABYDOS writing training, and many more valuable conferences. Thank you for all that you do for our school! I am continually astounded by the support we get from our community and our stakeholders, and we wouldn’t be where we are at Pearce High School without the help of the Pearce Excellence in Education Fund.

SOS is about making sure that ALL students at Pearce don't have the option to sink or swim - we are going to make sure they all float, first with our help and then successfully on their own! But as a new program, we would have sunk into oblivion without PEEF's generosity and support! We have been going four years strong now and have come full circle, with every student at Pearce now having experienced the program - this would never have been possible without PEEF. Every year, they ask, "What can we do for you?" and they work to make everything happen they can. We couldn't train our Lifeguards on our three-day retreat, teambuilding with each quad, so they are ready to lead their freshmen or have any supplies for seniors or freshmen without what PEEF provides. Every year, we have watched unbelievably great senior leaders build relationships with our fantastic freshmen to help them succeed in high school and beyond. Getting to see that happen is a privilege we would not have without PEEF. THANK YOU!

The Pearce Science Department appreciates all the support from the PEEF fund. This past year, we replaced outdated AP Chemistry equipment with new technology and additional labware. We also received equipment to enhance instruction in our Astronomy classes. We are very excited about this year’s request for biology computer software, Chemistry labware, and environmental equipment used for lab and fieldwork in AP Environmental science. The fund also provides opportunities for our teams to meet and develop innovative curriculum to increase student achievement in the classroom. With the help of PEEF, we can be on the leading edge of new technology that will prepare our students with the tools they need for science technology in the 21st century.

A big thank you to the Excellence in Education Fund from all of us in the art department! Many of our art students cannot afford the basic supply kits needed for the art courses we offer. Each year the fund graciously allocates money to buy essential consumable supplies for these students. Items like ebony pencils, erasers, and colored pencils help us motivate our kids to achieve and produce creative work. Last year we were also able to purchase media equipment, items for our new photography class, and large individual canvases for the advanced classes. All things we otherwise would have had to do without. PEEF also makes it possible to keep the computer lab open and running before school each morning of the week. The lab is a quiet place for students to use the computers and printers (both color and black and white) and study before school starts each morning. It is essential for our students who do not have a printer and computer at home and those who need to finish up work before classes begin for the day. We appreciate the generous support PEEF gives to Pearce students and teachers.

The Excellence Fund purchased the TI-Navigator system for the Pearce Math Department 3 years ago. These systems proved to be highly beneficial to our students and increased student achievement dramatically. The district saw the improvement and funded every other classroom at Pearce. Thanks to the Excellence Fund, Pearce teachers were able to begin implementation and set the standard of classroom excellence and innovation once again. The fund also supported math teachers to attend the Teachers Teaching with Technology Convention in Dallas. At this conference, we learned how new technology could increase student achievement.
